At Mileva Films, we believe that communicating science is much more than presenting results: it is opening a window that allows society to see, understand, and appreciate the scientific process. This is why we have created talks aimed at researchers who want to rethink their relationship with the public and understand why communicating is just as essential as investigating. In a time of information overload and misinformation, explaining science clearly, honestly, and engagingly is a shared responsibility. And above all, there is no need to wait for definitive conclusions: the path, the questions, and the methodologies are already part of scientific culture and can spark interest long before the results arrive.
During the sessions, we examine data showing that communication does not dilute rigor—on the contrary, it strengthens it and makes it more accessible. We explore how narratives can amplify a message and how pioneering figures in the history of science already understood that sharing knowledge was essential for progress. We also reflect on an increasingly relevant aspect for research teams: social impact. Today, all funding systems—from public agencies to European programmes—require evidence of impact, and science communication is one of the most powerful tools for demonstrating that your work transforms, inspires, and connects with society.
As an inspiring example, we present the Memories of a Sea Method, winner of the 2024 ACCC Scientific Communication Award. This project shows how a strong alliance between science and communication can turn a study into a shared experience that generates reflection, interest, and social engagement. It clearly demonstrates that communication is not an add-on, but a way to multiply the reach and relevance of research.
The ultimate goal of these talks is to provide practical tools and inspire new forms of collaboration so that communication becomes a natural and continuous part of scientific work. Because today, if you don’t communicate, you don’t exist.
They trust us.
