At Mileva Films, we continue giving voice to stories that transform.

Today we share the video with Teresa Vicente, legal philosopher and activist, who has achieved a historic milestone: having the Mar Menor recognized as a legal person, the first ecosystem in Europe with its own rights.

The Mar Menor, a unique saltwater lagoon in the Mediterranean, was suffering alarming degradation. But Teresa, with an ecofeminist vision and the support of thousands of people, promoted a Popular Legislative Initiative that gathered more than 640,000 signatures.

The result: a new law approved in 2022 that gives voice and legal protection to nature. A victory that shows how organized citizens can change the future.

This commitment earned Teresa the 2024 Goldman Environmental Prize, known as the “Green Nobel.” An international recognition that positions the Mar Menor as a symbol of hope and ecological justice.

This video is part of the MUAC Augmented Ecofeminisms project, which amplifies stories where ecology and feminism meet to imagine new worlds.

Watch it, share it, and join this change: because when we give voice to nature, we also defend life.
