At Mileva Films we are especially pleased to have received an honorable mention for the journalistic article “The Last Breath of the Aral Sea”, written by Laura Carrau and Rafael Marcé and published in Mètode magazine. This recognition adds to the ACCC Award for Best Scientific Communication Project for the documentary Memories of a Sea, and reinforces our way of working: a deeply interdisciplinary approach that combines documentaries, scientific articles, and educational projects with a single purpose—creating scientific culture, fostering a more critical society, and contributing to people’s empowerment through knowledge. Awards like these encourage us to continue telling stories that speak to us as a society and shine a light on the great environmental and human challenges of our time.

As always, the ceremony offered a privileged window into exceptional projects that showcased the rich diversity of perspectives, languages, and ways of explaining science. We were introduced to the documentary Querida gaivota maldita by Manuel Pedrosa and Mariam Mariño; the YouTube channel of Aythami Soto, which brings knowledge to new audiences; a research project on water management by Stéphanie Aparicio Antón; a rigorous report on microplastics by Clemente Álvarez and Laura Navarro Soler; the children’s program Sapiensantes from RTVE, which introduces science to the youngest and is hosted by Xaviera Torres and Paula Aller; the commendable project Més que ciènciaby Daniel Amatller, which brings science to older people; Hypatiamarsby Jennifer García Carrizo, encouraging space-related vocations among women; and the book on sleep by Pablo José Barrecheguren Manero. A constellation of proposals that, through very different formats and disciplines, contribute in indispensable ways to enriching the scientific culture of the country.
