Some projects are not born from a commission, but from an intuition. From an almost visceral need to tell a story that stirs something deep inside. The Ocean’s Heartbeat, 22 Days in 22 Feet is exactly that: a documentary that began with a very simple question —how do we explain the sea to today’s children?— and ended up becoming a shared emotional journey.

From the very beginning, we knew we didn’t want to make just a documentary about an ocean crossing. We wanted to talk about values. About those the sea conveys silently yet powerfully: respect, care, trust, perseverance. Values that are not so far from those we live by on land, but which at sea become unavoidable.

This is how the story was born between two protagonists who seem far apart, yet are deeply connected:
a sailor crossing the Atlantic alone in the Mini Transat, and a young girl who experiences this adventure from the classroom through the educational project 22 Days in 22 Feet.

While he navigates through waves, silences, and constant decision-making, she and her classmates explore the wind, physics, climate change, and marine life. But above all, they explore something deeper: the ability to look at the sea with new eyes.

A mesura que avança la travessa, també ho fa la transformació interior de la protagonista. El mar deixa de ser un paisatge llunyà, un horitzó que es contempla des de la costa, i es converteix en un espai viu, ple d’històries, reptes i aprenentatges. Les imatges del treball a l’aula, les visites, el primer tast de vela i les paraules del navegant s’entrellacen amb la seva veu interior, que creix en confiança i emoció.

This documentary is, ultimately, the story of a discovery. That of a girl who, by listening to the sea and following the courage of a sailor, also learns to trust herself. And it is here that, as an audiovisual production company, we find the deepest meaning of what we do.

At the end of the journey, the sea is no longer a distant place. It is a promise. A possible space. A place from which, one day, perhaps someone too will set sail.
